On 16th June, 2020 Tuesday Finance Minister B Rajendra nath Reddy, Government of Andhra Pradesh has formally introduced the budget of the state for the financial year 2020-2021. In this state budget major highlights were the allocation of the fund for the twenty-one welfare schemes runon the name of Late YS Rajasekhara Reddy and Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy to provide financial help to the needy people. Despite of the COVID crises and poor financial condition YSR government given priority to the welfare schemes. This year government has sanctioned Rs 3,691.79 crore for housing sector.

The YSR urban housing scheme will implement by the government of the state from next year. This scheme is specially announced for poor, middle-income section and lower-income groups who lives in Urban area. For the successful implementation of YSR Urban Housing Scheme, the state government has allocated Rs 1000 crore. Additionally, the PMAY Urban Rs.5000/- crore allocated by the Center government for the development of the Urban area. The main focus of this scheme is to provide houses to everyone in the state before 2022. This scheme will fulfil the house dream of the citizen of the state.

PMAY YSR Urban Housing Scheme
Main objectives of the schemes – The above schemes have been launched with the main thrust of building houses for people belonging to weaker sections of the society.
Target group of schemes – Low-income families and weaker sections of the state are the target group of schemes. This will provide them with better accommodation to live in.
Amount allocated for the schemes – Finance Minister of Andhra Pradesh Buggana Rajendranath Reddy has announced Rs 2280 crore for the successful launch of the schemes. In addition, an allocation of Rs.2,27,975 crore has been made to improve the condition of agriculture, housing, human capital, and other sectors.

On 6th of June 2020, Andhra Pradesh Finance Minister Buggana Rajendranath Reddy said that the state government aims to complete the construction of 30 lakh houses for the poor across the state in five years. Addressing the media, the FM said that the state government went with land acquisition for housing in a transparent manner as per the Land Acquisition Act and charged with the opposition of making false claims.
On the 7th of June 2020, the Andhra Pradesh government is getting ready to launch its ambitious housing scheme in August. The housing scheme for the poor in the state on track. Construction of 15 lakh houses, across all 13 districts of the state, would be taken up in the 1st phase. This would start the distribution of 27 lakh house sites to the poor on July 8. Under this scheme, govt is planning to give two cents of land (96 sq yards) to 27 lakh women in the state.
